Islamic Wills

Under the Sharia, a Muslim with wealth is duty-bound to write a Will. In order to fulfil this religious obligation, Muslims need to ensure they have executed a Sharia-compliant will, not simply a secular Will.

This can be a complex process which is why the knowledge and expertise offered by our solicitors is invaluable. Our highly experienced Wills team can help you draft a Sharia compliant Will, providing the assistance you need to make sure everything is completed correctly.

Our Wills are compliant with Islamic law as well as the laws of England & Wales.

The Quran stresses the importance of creating an Islamic Will. Our specialist legal team will be happy to talk you through the Islamic laws of inheritance and can guide you through the process of writing a sound, legally binding Islamic Will.

Tax Implications

As Sharia law provides for very strict guidelines when making a Will, without a proper Will and advice, this can lead to unexpected inheritance tax charges for those inheriting. Because of these rules, there are also other restrictions on how couples may hold property and other assets together, including their home.

Why Choose Us?

Our solicitors are experts in Islamic law, and so are ideally positioned to explain the complexities of creating a Sharia-compliant will.

We are also able to discuss the concept of leaving a Wasiyya. A Wasiyya enables you to leave up to one-third of your estate to an individual who would not usually automatically inherit under the Islamic laws of inheritance.

We are proud to have helped many Islamic families through the sensitive process of drafting an Islamic compliant Will.
